VolumeBooster, a Celexly product, processes audio entirely on your own device. It never records, stores, or transmits the audio you listen to. It has no analytics, no tracking, and no ads, and it does not run on the websites you visit. The only thing it ever sends over the network is a check with our payment processor to ask whether you have bought Pro.
When you press Boost on a tab, Chrome hands the extension that tab's audio stream. The audio is amplified and processed in memory on your computer and played straight back out to your speakers. It is never written to disk, never uploaded, and never shared with us or anyone else. We cannot hear it, and we have no way to.
Everything below is stored locally in your browser. None of it is sent to us.
| Data | Why it exists | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Your audio settings (volume, bass, EQ, effects) | So your setup is still there next time | On your device |
| Custom presets, per-site rules, theme | Features you explicitly created | On your device |
| Hearing profile (if you take the tone test) | To build an EQ tuned to your ears | On your device, never transmitted |
| Listening time at high boost | To show the occasional "you have been loud for a while" nudge | On your device |
| Whether you have paid (a cached yes or no) | So we do not re-check on every click | On your device |
| Per-tab state (which tab is boosted) | To survive Chrome shutting the extension down to save memory | On your device, cleared when Chrome closes |
If you switch on Sync my settings, your presets, site rules, theme and hearing profile are written to Chrome's own sync storage so they follow your Chrome profile onto your other computers. Google syncs it, we do not. We run no server for this and never see the data. It is off by default, and turning it off deletes the synced copy.
Pro purchases are handled by ExtensionPay, which uses Stripe for payment processing. When you buy Pro:
extensionpay.com and gets back a yes or no answer about whether that key has
paid. This is the extension's only network destination. No audio, page content, URLs, browsing history, or settings are ever sent to the payment processor, only the licence key.
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
tabCapture | To capture the audio of a tab you explicitly activate. This is the whole product. |
offscreen | To host the audio engine. Chrome's background workers cannot run Web Audio. |
storage | To save your settings and presets on your device. |
activeTab | To act on the tab you are currently looking at. |
tabs | To show a tab's title and icon in the popup, to notice pages Chrome cannot capture so we can tell you plainly, and to re-attach after a page reloads. |
alarms | For the sleep timer. Chrome shuts the extension down when idle, so an ordinary timer would never fire. |
contextMenus | For right-click shortcuts on the extension's own toolbar icon. |
https://extensionpay.com/* | Payment only. The extension's single content script runs on this one site so the checkout page can tell the extension a purchase completed. It reads no page content and runs on no other website. |
webNavigation (optional) | Only requested if you turn on per-site rules, so your saved settings re-apply when a page navigates. |
VolumeBooster is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Because your data stays on your device, you are already in control of it. You can export or delete everything from the extension's Options page at any time, and uninstalling the extension removes all local data. For the email address held by our payment processor, you can request access or deletion by contacting us. Note that we may be required to retain billing records for tax and accounting purposes.
If this policy changes in a way that materially affects you, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Continuing to use the extension after a change means you accept the updated policy.
All sales are final. VolumeBooster does not offer refunds. Because the full free tier lets you hear exactly how the extension performs on your own audio and hardware before paying, we ask you to try it first and only buy if you are happy with it.
The free tier is genuinely usable, not a demo: boosting up to 600%, bass boost, tone control, a 5-band equalizer, presets, meters, and the same true-peak limiter that Pro uses. Nothing is time-limited and nothing expires. Please make sure it works for you before purchasing.
The lifetime plan is a one-time payment and is non-refundable. "Lifetime" means it does not expire and is not a subscription. It is tied to the extension and does not guarantee any particular future feature.
Nothing in this policy removes rights you have by law. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants a statutory right of withdrawal or refund for digital purchases, for example the 14 day right of withdrawal in the EU and UK, that right still applies, and this policy does not override it. Contact us and we will honour it.
This policy covers changing your mind. It does not cover the extension failing to do what it says. If Pro is not working, is not unlocking after payment, or you were charged twice, contact us and we will fix it or make it right. Please talk to us before opening a chargeback. It is faster, and a chargeback usually terminates access.
Netflix, Spotify Web, Apple Music and similar services protect their audio with DRM. Chrome delivers silence to every capture tool on those tabs, so no extension, including this one, can boost them. This is a browser restriction, not a bug, and it is not grounds for a refund. You can confirm how the extension behaves on the sites you care about using the free tier before paying.
